Here we have 15 different varieties of used stamps from Poland that were issued in 1939-1943 under Nazi occupation. The history of Poland is a history of occupation by enemy governments. Four times Polish territory has been partitioned among the armies of her conquerors. The 1939 partition, dividing Polish territory between Germany and Russia, was one of the important early events in World War II. These stamps were issued from 1939-1943 by the German Occupation Government. Some of the stamps are pre-war Polish issues sur-charged with the Nazi eagle and swastika. Other designs show public buildings in Warsaw and Cracow, and a Hitler portrait. In your album these stamps will recall Poland's unhappy role as the buffer between Stalin's Russia and Hitler's Germany.
